Download Windows ADK: The numerous versions of Microsoft Windows ADK (Assessment and Planning Toolkit)..and where to find them!

…You get my point right?

As a core prerequisite for Microsoft’s Deployment Toolkit Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) successor: Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK), count’s numerous versions out there wandering the interwebs. As I’m always looking for the latest version available whenever I perform a Microsoft Deployment Toolkit implementation, I thought it would be nice to create and maintain a list of the most recent versions of ADK out there.

I went on a little investigation and came to the following table:

Windows ADK for Windows 10 v1511 10.1.10586.0 Download Oct. 2015
Windows ADK for Windows 10 RTM 10.0.26624.0 Download July. 2015

Thanks for keeping this table up to date! It’s hard trying to find what version of ADK is for what version of Windows and luckily I stumbled across your site.

          Hi Mark,

Basically this list is it. Which I try to keep up to date whenever a new version of Windows 10 comes out. For Windows 7 and prior there is the WAIK.

          Regards

      Hi Rusty,

Just the latest will do just fine. No need to install them after another.

I’m using MDOP 2015 to create a Dart 10 but installing the latest ADK is giving me the “ErrorActionPreference” error and cleaning up everything afterwards. do I need the 2015 ADK? HELP PLEASE!

      Hi Luis,
Not sure, what happens when you install the latest ADK on a Machine where MDOP is not present? I believe to incorporate DaRT in your WinPE image you just need to paste the cab files in the support or tools folder for WinPE.

      Cheers!

    Hi,
we still run Windows 7 on out clients and I try to set up a new deployment server for that.
Unfortunately I have to do this from scratch.

Is there a ADK for Windows 7 available any more?

    Thanks for any hint…

      Hi Chris,

To my knowledge even the latest version of ADK is compatible with Windows 7. If not, just download a prior version of ADK, and if that doesn’t work you can always work with WAIK (Windows Automated Installation Kit v3.1 I believe)

    Hello,
I have lots of XP machines, and i need to migrate them to Windows Seven.
The recent ADK files and downloads did not help at all. So i need to find the version that would help achieve what i am looking for.
    Thanks in advance.

You’re just now migrating from XP, a 15 year old OS that hasn’t received security updates in 3 years, and you chose Windows 7, a 10 year old OS that is quickly approaching end of Extended Support? I mean i’m a big W7 fan, especially since creating images for 10 requires a lot of additional training, but I’d go straight to whatever the current 10 LTSB build is at the time of making the images.

Thank you so much! Even near the end of 2018 this is still useful. Here’s why…

Any version of Windows ADK after 1511 will error out when building deployment media in MDT for both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008. Magically the later ADKs stopped supporting Windows 7 era OSes. I needed the latest ADK to properly slipstream updates into a Windows 10 deployment. So now I need to uninstall it and install 1511 or earlier. And no where online can you find the links to that old of a version. Microsoft sucks, but you saved the day. Otherwise I’d have to run a Windows 10 system just for making deployments of Windows 10 (a Chicken and the Egg dilemma).

Can we install v1803 ADK on Windows 10 v1903? It is unclear. In recent versions WinPE addon installation is now annoyingly complicated and a pain.
